On June 19, 2026, an international scientific conference presenting the results of the iStream project will take place at the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. The project is implemented under the Erasmus+ programme (Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education, KA220-HED).
The iStream project focuses on the use of immersive technologies—such as VR and AR—in the media, journalism, and communication sectors. Its main objective is to reduce the skills gap by developing modern educational programmes and adapting higher education to the rapidly evolving needs of the media market.
During the conference, key project outcomes will be presented, including:
- the Immersive Journalist Competence Framework, defining the required knowledge, skills, and competences in this field,
- the iStream study programme—a one-year academic programme that can be implemented at BA, MA, and postgraduate levels,
- syllabi and teaching materials supporting courses in immersive journalism,
- guidelines for establishing and managing immersive journalism laboratories,
- an international training course for academic staff.
The conference will provide a platform for exchanging experiences between academia and media professionals, as well as an opportunity to discuss the future of communication in the context of immersive technologies.
The event is particularly addressed to:
- academic and teaching staff in media, communication, and journalism,
- curriculum developers and those responsible for educational programme design,
- university lecturers and trainers interested in implementing new technologies in teaching,
- representatives of the media and communication sectors, including journalists, editors, and digital content creators,
- specialists in new technologies, VR/AR, and media innovation,
- representatives of institutions and organisations interested in the development of digital competences in Europe.
Participation in the conference offers an excellent opportunity to explore the latest trends in media education and to establish international cooperation in the field of immersive journalism.
The detailed conference programme will be announced soon.
